Panagiotis Ritsos

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Engineering of the University of Chester, UK, since June 2015. My research expertise is on Wearable Computing, Mixed Reality and Virtual Reality, complemented by experience in Information Visualization, Haptics and Usability Evaluation.

I am currently interested in various themes of human-computer interaction, and in particular the application of novel display technologies in visualization.

Previously, I was a lecturer and researcher at the School of Computer Science, Bangor University, UK, a member of the Visualisation and Medical Graphics (VMG) group and an associate of the Research Institute of Visual Computing (RIVIC).

I obtained a PhD (2006) and an MEng (2000) on Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Essex. My doctoral research was carried out in VASE lab, exploring the use of Wearable Computers for in situ reconstruction of building (temple) architectures in archaeology, leading to a thesis titled `Architectures of Untethered Augmented Reality using Wearable Computers’.

I am a member of IEEE, the BCS and the Technical Chamber of Greece. I am also involved with the AR Standards community, investigating standardisation for open and interoperable Augmented Reality.

Antonis Gougoulis

I would like to think of myself as an Electronic Systems Engineer. I obtained my MEng degree on Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of Essex back in 2001. Going back to my University days, apart from classes and modules I worked on several projects including Autonomous Robot Design in the VASE lab and Peripheral Device Interfacing. The later included developing GUIs to manage devices through Serial/USB connections and Core programming for Serial or USB data transmissions to Interface these Devices to PCs.

Currently, I am working in AT&T Global Network Services as a Sr. Technical Specialist on VMWare Hosting Operations for End User Computing. Previously I was focused on IT Service Management for IT Operations and Hosting & Application Environments. My key function was Problem management in a vast IT environment leveraging ITIL v3 practices.

Since 2011 I contribute to Synthetic Toys, a virtual lab working on HCI/AR/VR/UX and Wearable Computing. Also, in the past I contributed to Innovative Frog, a small lab which was implementing Web Design & Web Applications.

Between 2005 and 2012 I worked in EMI Music in Infrastructure & Desk Side Services, where for the last 2 years I was the Local Technical Lead for the site located in Greece.

Prior to that position I worked in Svimservice Hellas S.A., from 2001 to 2005, as a Systems Engineer and Infrastructure Manager, mainly in a large public sector project.

I am a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece. I am also involved with the AR Standards community, which investigates standardization for open and interoperable Augmented Reality.
